Our Journey

2017

Foundations

The story starts with a team of ambitious UCF students launching a composite manufacturing firm they for the recreational drone market, focused on lightweight, high-performance structures. This work led them to the University of Central Florida Composite Research Group, where they supported programs for organizations including NASA and Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Through these efforts, they contributed to high-temperature thermal systems and wind energy applications, helping execute more than $1.5 million in awarded research funding and laying the groundwork for Soarce’s future.

2019-2021

The Discovery-Soarce Begins

Searching for their next research breakthrough, co-founders Derek and Mason discovered nanocellulose, a high-strength material they believed could transform major industries using renewable resources. After exhausting the scientific literature, they reached out to researcher Meri Lundahl via YouTube, who unexpectedly responded and went on to mentor them for over a year, helping them produce the material themselves.  Amazed by the initial results, the team made the decision to form an organization committed to producing this material at scale.

And thus, Soarce was born.

2022-2023

Production Bottleneck Solved

Backed by funding from the National Science Foundation and early investors including BoostVC, Tavistock, the Legacy of Adidas, and Founders Factory, Soarce launched its first production lab screening biomass sources from seaweed to hemp hurd. This support enabled a breakthrough in nanomaterial synthesis, leading to the development and patenting of a novel nanocellulose production technology that enables high-throughput of functionalized nanocellulose in a variety of chemical groups.

2024

Launch of Flagship Products Seabind™ & Aglyte™

Powered by our biomass fractionation platform, Soarce offers two flagship nanocellulose products. Seabind™ delivers high-purity, high-performance nanocellulose for advanced applications like composites and coatings, while Aglyte™ provides an industrial-grade solution for large-scale markets including agriculture, construction, and paper.
