We're reengineering how textiles are made by helping apparel brands replace synthetic materials with truly sustainable high performing multifunctional fabrics made out of seaweed and nanomaterials. By altering the core components of seaweed and combining it with our proprietary nanomaterials we're able to manufacture fabrics that exhibit properties you'd only find in specialized premium materials.
Below displays a simplified overview of how we start with our raw material of seaweed to then get to our end products of leathers and fibers.
Our material is capable of managing high levels of heat without catching on fire. When a flame is directed at our material, it begins to build a char layer slowing the processes of material erosion; essentially smothering and extinguishing the flame. Great for protective wear, interiors for automotives, furniture, etc.
Request MDSOur material is capable of blocking out 97% of UVA & UVB while also blocking 100% of UVC. Meaning that our material protects against UV rays that are responsible for ageing, wrinkling, delayed tanning and burning, as well as skin cancers.
Request MDSOur material is capable of reflecting near and far infrared radiation. Far infrared is a wavelength from the sun that penetrates through fabrics and skin and casues the water within our bodies to heat up, which causes that hot feeling you get when the sun hits you. Due to our material reflecting IR it causes our materials to be 10 to 15 degrees cooler than traditional textile surfaces. Great material for apparel and cases for tech (e.g. computer or phone cases).
Our materials don't rely on dyes, bleaches, or pigments to achieve the color white. Our unique composite provides structural color, meaning we can increase the level of whiteness without adding toxic chemicals (e.g. hydrogen peroxide or sodium hypochlorite) that leach heavy metals into waste streams and releases tons of CO2 throughout processing.
Our raw material, seaweed, is a super plant that absorbs over 170 million metric tons of CO2 annually. As it absorbs the CO2 it will store it and essentially lock away large quantities of the greenhouse gas. In the near future we'll add a tracking measure so that brands can see the amount of CO2 that their purchased materials has absorbed.
Our material's water based chemistry allows it to have unique built in properties, meaning we have no use or need for post-treatments that adds a myriad of toxic chemicals and releases tons of greenhouse gasses throughout processing like traditional textiles. We also don't use any fossil fuel based materials such as plastics.

Fire Resistance
Managing high levels of heat without catching on fire, great for protective wear, interiors for automotives, etc.
Anti-Microbial
Prevents the growth of bacteria - meaning no irritation, infections, staining, etc.
Sustainable
A truly green product that doesn't cause adverse effects to the environment as it's extracted and processed. Allowing for a circular business model.
UV Protection
Prevents ultra-violent rays from penetrating through it, causing reduced sunburn, cancer, signs of aging, etc.
Carbon Sequestering
Able to suck C02 out of the atmosphere rapidly and store it in order to grow
Anti-Odor
Prevents the build of bacteria that causes unwanted odors that can be hard to get rid of.
We dry large amounts of the seaweed then extract a unique biopolymer from the macro-algae and other low-carbon plant sources which ends up becoming a powder.
We then take this powder and combine it with our proprietary nano-particles which turns into a viscous liquid that contains the unique properties mentioned earlier.
This liquid then goes through one of two routes:
1) We pour the liquid into a textured mold and steadily heat the material to make a leather sheet, which we then add a backing to.
2) The liquid gets extruded through thousands of tiny holes, to make little fibers which get spun into yarns, then spooled and shipped off to partnering brands that make garments, accessories, or interior furnishing.

We then take this liquid and manipulate the nano-sized particles which alters its' chemical composition, and provides it with its' unique properties.
Once the liquid has been enhanced we then extrude it into non-toxic, plastic-free fibers. These fibers later get turned into yarns and then spools of fabric.
Once our materials are made into fibers & leathers, we partner with brands including apparel, automotive, and furniture brands who integrate our materials into their product line to make whatever piece of material they desire.
